When you need money badly a title loan is one of the ways that money can come through for you quickly. Even with bad credit, you can get a title loan so long as you own your car outright. If you have received your loan and it is time to pay, you may find that having an added bill during the month may be different than before. Luckily there are some things in the budget that you can remove for a few weeks until your title loan is paid off. Here are three things to give up when you are paying off a title loan.
1. Extra gas and transit
When paying off a title loan, calculate how much gas you use on a regular basis. Then calculate the amount of money and time it would use if you used public transportation. If you can do some of your commuting via public transit for less, consider using transit. Limit yourself to a certain amount to spend on gas and transportation so that the rest of the money can go towards your title loan payoff. If you live in a city with good public transit, a monthly pass may save you hundreds of dollars in gas.
2. Automatic deliveries or services
It is common for people to forget just how much they spend on goods and services when the deliveries and payments are automatic. Go over your list of goods and services that you pay for each month. Cancel anything that is not necessary including streaming subscription services, product deliveries, and applications that you use on your phone or computer. Even if you use and enjoy these services, going without them for a month or two can help pay down your debt so that you have less to worry about later on.
3. Food that doesn't match the pantry items
One of the best ways to save money quickly is to cut down on your eating expenses. Stop eating out and start to eat all of the food that is in your pantry. Many people keep a stock of pantry items, such as vegetables, rice, and dry goods. Plan all three of your meals around as many of these items as possible. Being able to reallocate the grocery money to pay off the title loan will give you a bigger chunk of change each payday. If you are able to eat solely from your pantry, you may find that you have less food waste and you are able to spend more time at home after work, rather than shopping for food or going out to eat.
